History

During 1995, George Fyfe, a private commercial developer, developed the Light House Monitoring System for Marine Data Systems (Proprietary) Limited as well as other sub-systems in co-operation with Marine Data Systems (Proprietary) Limited. George Fyfe also invented the TDMA semaphore concept in the field of AIS and went on to co-patent it together with Marine Data Systems (Proprietary) Limited. During 1999, George Fyfe sold his share in the abovementioned patent to Marine Data Systems (Proprietary) Limited, subject to a restraint of trade on certain products, which has since lapsed. George Fyfe is the managing director of Sine Qua Non Technology Holdings (Proprietary) Limited, where the sole purpose is to develop leading edge electronic technology. Due to Sine Qua Non Technology Holdings (Proprietary) Limited and its management's vast experience in the field of two-way radio and AIS, it was realized that there was difficulty in measuring the operational status of an AIS installation. The concept of a operational hand held test unit was born and was accordingly developed by Sine Qua Non Technology Holdings (Proprietary) Limited. The hand held test unit is only one of a vast product range to be developed by Sine Qua Non Technology Holdings (Proprietary) Limited
